I handled location audio for this Golf Digest video touring every hole at the Sheep Ranch, the newest course at the Bandon Dunes resort in Oregon. Coastal Oregon is a challenging audio environment — the wind off the Pacific is persistent and the course is fully exposed on the headland above the ocean.

Wind management for outdoor sports coverage at an exposed coastal location is the primary technical challenge. A high-quality windscreen on the camera-mounted shotgun and careful lavalier placement under outerwear are the tools. The ambient sound of the Oregon coast is part of what makes Bandon dramatic, so capturing it intentionally (while managing it for dialogue) is the balance.
