Dogtopia Daycare: What Dogs Want

I handled location audio for Dogtopia’s branded content piece exploring what dogs want from a daycare experience. Pet-forward brand content is a specific production challenge: the real stars of the piece are not going to hit their marks or stay on mic, which means the audio approach has to account for a chaotic, energetic environment.

The talent — daycare staff and pet parents — deliver their scripted and natural dialogue in the middle of an active dog daycare facility. A boom pole in that environment gets you constant wrangling and movement, so wireless lavs are the primary tool for the humans. The ambient sound of the facility (happy dogs, play noise) is a positive element that the editorial team will want, so capturing a clean ambience track is part of the deliverable.
