Bean and Lovullo Share a Close Friendship

I handled location audio for this feature on the friendship between an Arizona Diamondbacks player and manager Torey Lovullo. The D-backs are one of the local teams I work with regularly, and player-manager relationship pieces have a genuine intimacy that makes for good audio content.

Baseball clubhouse access for a feature like this means capturing natural conversation between two people who are comfortable with each other — the sound recordist’s job is to be present without changing the dynamic. Lavs on both subjects, a boom held back far enough to stay out of the shot, and letting the relationship do the work.
